- Can You Visit Maaloula?As of 17 September 2026, Maaloula is a living town, not a closed museum. SANA on 11 April 2026 quoted the Damascus Countryside tourism director treating the rocky passage as a visitor site, 56 kilometres northeast of Damascus. The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate’s page puts the Convent of St Thecla 65 kilometres northeast. Convent hours this week are unconfirmed. The four Western advisories still cover the trip.
