Thai islands, ferries, and monsoon timing
Thailand’s coasts are not one season. The Andaman side (Phuket, Krabi, the west islands) and the Gulf side (Samui, Phangan, Tao) have opposite monsoon patterns. A “best month” question only works if you say which sea you mean and whether you need to swim or just sit in a town.
Ferries and speedboats are the logistics layer. Lomprayah, Raja, and local piers change timetables; overnight buses plus a dawn boat is a common budget path. Ask with your start city and whether you get seasick — the cheap boat is not always the one you want.
Crowds follow full moon, Chinese New Year, and European winter holidays. If you want a quieter beach, say so and accept a longer transfer. If you want nightlife, you already know which islands people will name.
