Island seafood: tourist menu or walk away?

Krabi / Andaman. I can see a fish on ice with no number. The daily budget page already says islands spike. I need the stall rule, not a “secret beach BBQ.”

A number before the grill

IfDoWalk
Price per kilo is on a board or they say it before fireMaybe“Later, later” with a smile
Set menu with a numberFine if you wanted that plateAssuming the set is the fish you pointed at
No price, they pick “the good one”WalkPaying for a story
You are on a pier the speedboat dumped you atExpect tourist gravityComparing it to a Bangkok stall

Daily budget already flags island extras. This is the fish. Cash. Ask the number twice if you have to.

Which island, and if they showed a kilo price.

If they will not say the kilo price, I walk. Pier dumps are the expensive gravity. Town market if you can get to one. I would not let a tout pick “the good fish.”

Bangkok stall with a board is a different game. Island with no number is a tax. Ask twice. Walk once.

The budget page already warned the island spike. This is how it happens: no price, then a smile, then a number after the grill.

I have not picked Patong or Kata yet. I would still want a number before anyone lights a fire. That is not a beach-specific skill.

Wrong north. Same rule as a red truck: agree before you sit. A grill is not a meter.

Cash. If the only ATM is a 220 hit, you already paid a tax. Do not add a mystery fish on top.

I would eat rice and a priced plate before I play guessing-on-ice. The holiday is not a receipt you cannot read.

Kids, no number: walk. I am not negotiating a fish while two people melt. Priced food. Done.

10 nights. If I even get to an island I want a number. I will not spend the day defending a “secret BBQ.”

I am still on a Bangkok booking. If I get to a pier I will ask the number. I already do not want a surprise desk at 01:00. Same energy.

I prebooked Bangkok. Island fish is later. The rule I would keep: a number, or I walk. Same as a pin Grab can read.
