Chiang Rai: day trip or overnight from Chiang Mai?

10 nights, first time. If I even get north, I need White Temple vs a sleep, not a van brochure.

I will not post a gate price. Check the temple the week you go. Dress: shoulders and knees. This is not a summit day.

Hours you will burn, and if the white building is the whole point.

Day if the white wat is the point and you leave at dawn. Overnight if you want the town. I would not stack the Triangle onto a day and call it done.

Pai is a different van. This is north-east, not west. 10 nights: one extra base is already a lot. I would overnight or skip, not both Pai and Rai.

Kids: overnight if we even went. I am not running a 14-hour van as the family story. We are Bangkok this stamp.

6 Sep is Bangkok. I will not add Chiang Rai to night one. If I hop later I want one temple or a sleep, not a brochure combo.

Wrong map. I am looking at Phuket beaches. I would not hop to Rai to collect a second north brand.

Wrong south. If the trip is Andaman, stay there. Do not add Chiang Rai onto a Krabi week to feel you saw the north.

I have a seater to CM. Rai would be another day on top. I would not stack it onto a wrecked arrival.
