How much cash for the first week in Thailand?

I do not want a brick of notes in a hostel locker. I also do not want five 220 hits. Cards work in malls. Stalls want cash.

One hit, not a wad

Foreign card at a Thai ATMOne larger withdrawal. ~220 THB Thai-bank fee is normalFive 2,000 THB hits to “stay safe”

Skimming worryBank lobby machine, cover the PINA brick of cash because you are scared of cards

Daily budget is the band. 220 is a fee. Proof of funds is a desk question, not your grocery wad. Super Rich vs airport is the FX thread.

Days, and if you already have a working card.

One ATM hit. Cover the PIN. Bank lobby. A brick of notes in a locker is how you get a second problem.

Malls take cards. Stalls want cash. That split is the week. Do not carry proof-of-funds as pocket money.

Five 2,000 hits is five 220s. I would rather one ugly number. Super Rich for the notes you actually want to hold.

I would not flash a wad on Asok. Cards in 7-11. Cash for the stall. Split it. I am not a walking ATM.

Airport counter as a personality is the other FX thread. A small taxi float is fine. 500 USD into the worst board is not.

10 nights. I want a working card plus one hit. I do not want 10,000 in the locker because a blog said immigration.

Chiang Mai stalls are the same cash story. Bank in town, not a bar machine at 01:00. I would not hunt a unicorn zero-fee box.

After DMK I wanted a taxi float. I still would not change a brick at the worst counter. App plus a small amount.

US, 6 Sep. I will take one hit and decline conversion. I needed “how much in the pocket” not “is 220 a scam.”

Kids: cards in the mall, cash for snacks. I would not make five ATM trips a safety plan. One hit. PIN covered.

I have a booking. If I need the taxi I still want a bank machine, not a brick from the worst airport board. Same energy as not following a printout.
