How much cash for the first week in Thailand?

I do not want a brick of notes in a hostel locker. I also do not want five 220 hits. Cards work in malls. Stalls want cash.

Malls take cards. Stalls want cash. That split is the week. Do not carry proof-of-funds as pocket money.

Chiang Mai stalls are the same cash story. Bank in town, not a bar machine at 01:00. I would not hunt a unicorn zero-fee box.

I have a booking. If I need the taxi I still want a bank machine, not a brick from the worst airport board. Same energy as not following a printout.
