DTV or visa exemption for remote work?

Laptop, overseas employer, not a 10-day beach. I do not want a “digital nomad stamp” that is actually a holiday.

Holiday vs documented stay

Processing times vary by post. That is an anecdote when someone quotes a number, not a service level. This is not legal advice.

Which post you would file from, and if you are already inside Thailand.

Mine took 11 days. That is one file, one post. Apply from outside. Sitting on a 60-day stamp “switching” is not the portal’s rule.

If the trip is a holiday, exemption. If the laptop is the point, DTV. Mixing them is how people look like they are working on a tourist stamp.

Thai employer is a work permit. DTV is not that door. I would not test it.

500,000 THB equivalent is the number I keep seeing on checklists. The post you file with will be meaner than a blog. Build to that post.

Some missions in 2026 got picky about who may file where. Read that post’s notice. Third-country “easy DTV” is how files die.

Chiang Mai wifi is not a visa. You can work from a cafe on a holiday stamp and still be in the wrong category. Different threads.

A 10-day island hop is not DTV. Do not pay the funds theatre for a beach week.

Family trip: exemption. DTV is not a family holiday product in the way people sell it on YouTube.

Gazette 60 vs 30 does not replace DTV. Different clock. The visa page already says that.

TDAC still on each DTV arrival. It is not a visa. File it.

Paying an agent for the same government portal is how this gets expensive. The URL is free.
