This is not legal advice. Enforcement is patchy and then suddenly a checkpoint. The expensive part is still the crash, not the ticket. Licence class is the other safety thread: “Can I ride a scooter on a car licence in Thailand?” — Category A, not this plastic.

If you will not wear one, do not rent. Grab exists.

Wear it. Checkpoint or not. The 2,000 figure is what the 2025 campaign stories quote. I still see people pay less. That is luck, not a price list.

The 4,000 captions are usually 2,000 for the rider plus 2,000 for the passenger, not a special “on the hook” tariff. Hook still counts as not worn. Nation/RTP May 2025: up to 2,000 per person, doubles if both heads are bare. Wear it.
