Chiang Mai or Bangkok for a 30-day extension?
Same TM.7 idea, different queues. Officers decide. Not legal advice. Checked 9 Sep 2026: the tourism add-on people describe is 30 days, cash often 1,900 THB, photo, copies, passport. The extension itself was not changed by the September rule change.
Pick the office you can actually reach
| If | Office habit people report | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| You are already in the north | Chiang Mai Immigration | You are not adding a Bangkok hotel night just to queue |
| You are already in Bangkok | Chaeng Watthana (or the office your district uses) | One trip; go early |
| Stamp dies in three days and you are on an island | The nearest Immigration, not a Facebook agent | Last-day is a bad plan either city |
Same bundle shows up in 2026 how-tos: TM.7, 4×6 photo as posted, copies of biodata + arrival stamp, cash, sometimes TM.30 / address. Guide: extend a tourist stay. Immigration locator: immigration.go.th.
The 30-day replacement of the tourism exemption was published in the Royal Gazette on 31 Aug 2026 and applies to arrivals from 15 Sep 2026. So the arithmetic now usually starts from a 30-day stamp rather than a 60-day one: what changed.
Office, nationality, and stamp date — otherwise replies are folklore.
