Should I get a SIM card in Thailand, or has an eSIM made that unnecessary?

Most of the advice circulating on this predates eSIM support, which is why people arrive expecting to queue at an airport counter and then wonder whether they needed to. Both still work. Which is cheaper depends on how long you are staying and how much data you actually use.
