Doi Inthanon as a day trip from Chiang Mai?
I have a fan seater north. If I survive it, I need summit vs a closed trail, not a mist brochure.
The ridge trail is not August
| If | Do | Not |
|---|---|---|
| Late August (this week) | Summit / waterfalls / the park. Kew Mae Pan is a dry-season trail on the usual park calendar (closed in the rains — confirm at the gate) | Buying a Kew Mae Pan sunrise because a blog is still open |
| November–May | That trail if the park is running it. Local guide is the usual rule | Hiking it alone off a GPX |
| Foreigner fee | DNP group-3 rate has been 300 / 150 (adult / child) since the 2022 regulation; confirm at the gate | A 2019 “60 baht like a Thai ID” screenshot |
| A short first trip | One mountain day, or skip | Inthanon + Chiang Rai + Pai as the same 48 hours |
Highest peak in the country is still a long day from the moat. Leave early. I will not quote a van. TMD / the gate the morning you go.
Whether you actually want 2,500 m, and which month.
