Saturday or Sunday Walking Street in Chiang Mai?

Two different roads. People paste “the night market” onto both and then get angry about silver vs the inner moat.

Two nights, two streets

NightRoadWhat it is
SaturdayWualai (south of Chiang Mai Gate)Smaller. Silver / craft reputation. Food stalls too
SundayRatchadamnoen, Tha Phae Gate toward Wat Phra SinghBigger, more people, more souvenir gravity
You miss bothChang Khlan Night Bazaar is the daily oneNot a walking street. Different grid
RainIt still sits outsideA poncho. They do not move it under a mall

Hours move. Treat late afternoon until the road reopens as the shape, not a blog clock from 2019. Sleep in Nimman vs Old City is the bed. This is which night the asphalt closes.

Which night you are actually in town.

Sunday is the inner moat. Saturday is Wualai. I would pick the night I am already in town. Do not hop hotels for a market.

Sunday is more people. Saturday is smaller. Night Bazaar is the every-night backup. Three different products. Do not merge them.

Old City bed makes Sunday a walk. Nimman makes both a Grab. That is the only geometry. The bed thread already exists.

If I have one night, I take whichever road is closed that night. I would not invent a third market from a 2018 blog clock.

I would not work a call from the middle of Ratchadamnoen on Sunday. Eat, walk, leave. It is a street, not a desk.

Rain: outside. Bangkok mall food court is not the substitute unless you wanted air-con, not the road.

Kids: Sunday is a lot of people. Saturday might be the less exhausting one. I still would not stay out until the last stall on a school clock.

Wrong coast. If you are already in the south, do not add Chiang Mai for one walking street. Cut.

Souvenir gravity on Sunday is real. If you only want food, you can still eat. You do not have to buy the magnet.

If I take the train up wrecked, I would not make the first night a walking street. Sleep. Market when I can stay awake.

I am still on a Bangkok pin. If I get north I will take the night that exists. I will not rebuild the week around Wualai.
