Thai phrase for a peanut allergy?
Two kids. I need a line for peanuts, not a blog that says Thai food is “usually fine.” Peanuts and peanut oil are not the same as a nut mix from home.
A card is not a kitchen protocol
| Say | Thai (common) | Not |
|---|---|---|
| Allergic to peanuts | แพ้ถั่วลิสง (*phae thua lisong*) | Pointing at a peanut and hoping |
| Do not add peanuts | ไม่ใส่ถั่วลิสง | “A little is OK” from a stranger |
| Hidden lines | Fish sauce, shrimp paste, satay sauce, some chilli pastes | Assuming a veggie dish is empty |
| Severe / anaphylaxis | Card in Thai + English, clinic plan | A forum as your Epi plan |
This is not medical advice. CDC food-and-water pages are conservative; they do not replace a clinician. A smile is not a confirmed kitchen. Satay and some som tam come with peanuts on top — say it before they plate.
How severe, and street stall vs a hotel kitchen.
