Songthaew or Grab in Chiang Mai?

Red truck vs the app. People paste Bangkok tuk-tuk rules onto a shared red songthaew and then get angry.

Agree the fare before you sit. Red is shared. It is not a Bangkok tuk-tuk and it is not a meter taxi. If that annoys you, Grab.

Arcade bus terminal: Grab into town. Do not hunt a red truck with a suitcase as a personality.

Bangkok people will try to pay like a tuk-tuk. Different city. Kit is right. App if you cannot haggle.

I would Grab the first two days. Then the truck if I am going a route I have already done. Not a test on night one.

Phuket tuk-tuks are their own expensive folklore. Do not import them. This is Chiang Mai red trucks.

Have small notes. Drivers are not a Visa terminal. Grab is the screen if you only have a card.
