Grab or Bolt in Bangkok?
Both apps installed. Same pickup, two prices. As of 30 Aug 2026 I want a rule, not a brand speech.
Compare the two screens the same minute
| Situation | Bias | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Central Bangkok, dry weather, no rush | Open both; Bolt is often cheaper on the quote | Fares are not a published tariff |
| Rain, 01:00, outer soi | Grab usually denser | Availability beats a 40 THB gap |
| Airport pickup | Grab if the pin is signed and you are tired | Bolt also runs; the kerb is still the failure |
| Short hop you can walk | Walk, or a meter taxi | App surge can exceed the walk |
This is not a Grab-or-taxi-at-Suvarnabhumi thread. That pickup map is already on this feed. BKK to the city is the rail vs car fork.
Install both before you fly. OTP still wants a working number. Quote the live fares, not a blog range from May.
Neighbourhood and time of day. Otherwise “Bolt is cheaper” is folklore.
