Does immigration still ask for 10,000 baht?
TAT put out a reminder on 6 July 2026. It is not a new law. Officers may ask. The 10,000 figure is not the only Interior amount. This is not legal advice.
Amounts TAT listed
| Entry category | Per person | Per family |
|---|---|---|
| Visa on Arrival | 10,000 THB | 20,000 THB |
| Certain visa-exempt cases (Interior amounts TAT restated) | 10,000 THB | 20,000 THB |
| Tourist Visa Exemption scheme — check your embassy | Some pages still list 20,000 THB | 40,000 THB |
| Tourist visa / Non-Immigrant | 20,000 THB | 40,000 THB |
Source: TAT newsroom, 6 Jul 2026. Same figures on thailand.go.th. Children under 12 are excluded in the Interior amounts the visa guide quotes. Cash, other currency, or payment evidence can count. Officers decide.
If you cannot tell which exemption band applies to your passport, pack evidence for the higher figure. Shortage at the desk is worse than leftover cash.
What this is not
Not a daily budget. Not “everyone is asked.” Not a reason to skip TDAC. Full table: Thailand visa 2026.
Ask with nationality and entry type. Then believe the officer.
