German passport, came overland from Jordan in March. Paid at the crossing. There was no advance visa because nothing online works. Bring cash.

Belgian, same road. They wanted the passport and USD. Nobody asked for a printout from an embassy.

If he is already in Amman just go early. The e-visa thing is a ghost. I would not sit in a hotel refreshing it.
