September–October often worst — swells and runoff, red flags on Ao Nang beach, tour cancellations peak. May starts green season but many mornings still swimable. Worst combo: heavy rain + onshore wind. Nov–April gold. Check daily flag colors; don't swim red flags with kids. Jellyfish rare but ask hotel. Phi Phi open most year but bumpy rides.
