Checkpoints exist highway to Tiger Cave and airport road — 500+ baht without IDP plus home license. Emerald Pool route has truck traffic; hospitals see tourist scooter crashes. Helmet always. Photo bike scratches before leaving shop. Many tourists rent for pool/hot springs day — viable with IDP. Ao Nang flat; no need scooter if only beach + pier walks. Grab day hire ~1,200 baht alternative.
