Balik Pulau is the durian and nutmeg heartland — 40–50 min Grab from George Town (RM30–40 each way), windy hill roads. Season peaks June–August for Musang King; off-season you'll still find frozen or farm stalls but prices jump. Half day works: leave 9am, hit a farm stall (Ah Soon, Bao Sheng — ask driver), laksa balik pulau for lunch, back by 3pm before rain. Organized tours RM80–120 include tastings — worth it if you don't want to negotiate per kg. Hotels ban durian indoors — eat at the stall. Not combo with Kek Lok Si same day unless you love car seats.
