George Town vs Batu Ferringhi for staying?

Couple, care more about food and murals than beach. Is Ferringhi worth it or stay central?

George Town 100% for food and murals if that's your priority. Batu Ferringhi is a resort strip — fine for sunset drinks and one beach afternoon, but 25–40 min Grab each way (RM25–35) for every hawker dinner. The UNESCO core around Armenian St, Chulia, and Muntri is flat and walkable 7–10am and after 5pm. Split only if you want two dedicated beach nights; otherwise base in GT and Grab to Ferringhi once.

Split only if you want 2 beach nights. Otherwise GT + one Ferringhi afternoon. Traffic over the hill gets slow 5–7pm.

Stayed GT whole trip. Batu Ferringhi day trip once for beach — enough for us.

We booked Ferringhi first night by mistake — moved to Chulia Street next morning. No regrets.
