For 5 days mixing city + Melaka, I'd rent only if you're doing 2+ out-of-town drives — Batu Caves and Genting are easier with Grab or tour than fighting KL traffic daily. City parking: hotels RM15–25/night, malls RM4–8 first 2 hours then stacks up. Street parking scarce in BB/KLCC. Rush hour 5–8pm is miserable — right-side steering, aggressive motorbikes. Melaka day trip: ETS/bus beats driving unless you have kids gear. If you rent: get Touch 'n Go for tolls (every highway), avoid CBD during weekdays, park at mall and monorail in. Many families regret city rental by day 3 and switch to Grab — calculate RM60/day parking + rental vs RM40–60 daily Grab budget.
