ETS (Electric Train Service) from KL Sentral to Ipoh takes about 2h15–2h45 depending on class — far more comfortable than the bus. Book on KTMB website or at station; RM25–45 one-way for silver/gold class. First train around 7am, last return around 9–10pm — check the day's schedule. In Ipoh: Grab to Old Town for Lou Wong bean sprout chicken, Thean Chun kopitiam, and Concubine Lane photos. You need 7–8 hours minimum in Ipoh itself plus 5 hours round-trip rail. Tuesday–Thursday seats are easier. Alternative: bus from TBS is cheaper (RM20–30) but 3+ hours and less scenic.
