Go before 9am for shade and fewer crowds — the 272 steps are steep but kids 6+ manage if you pause on the landings. Monkeys will grab open food bags; keep snacks zipped. Ground-level temple area still works if they tap out on stairs. KTM Komuter from KL Sentral is cheap (a few ringgit); Grab is easier with tired kids. Skip Thaipusam week unless you want festival chaos. Rain makes the steps slippery — check the forecast.

We skipped caves and did Aquaria KLCC instead on a rainy day. Kids liked sharks more than stairs.
