Guy near palace said closed, offered 20 baht tour. Smelled off.

Yes still everywhere near Grand Palace and Wat Pho — "closed today" / "Buddha day" / 20 baht city tour → jewelry or suit shop commission trap. Palace open most days 8:30–3:30 — verify at official gate. Use Grab, BTS+MRT+boat, or meter taxi (insist meter). Tuk-tuk fine short hop if you know price (60–100 baht) and destination. Never follow stranger to alternate temple. Orange-roofed temple touts same script.

Classic — they take you to gem shop. Palace was open. Walked away.

Wear obvious palace-appropriate clothes so touts don't "help" you buy pants.
