Khao San Road base — still a mistake?
Hostel booked 4 nights cheap. Read mixed reviews — relocate?

Khao San is backpacker party zone — cheap beds, loud until 2am, far from BTS (boat/taxi to everywhere). Food is tourist-grade. Fine 1–2 nights if you're 22 and want buckets; mistake for 4+ nights or families. Move to Sukhumvit On Nut budget hotels or Silom if train matters. Grand Palace walkable — only real plus. No MRT until gold line extensions — still awkward.
