Patong vs Kata for 4 nights — which base?

Three friends mid-20s. We want some nightlife but also chill beach days. Is Patong too much for 4 full nights or should we split between areas?

If nightlife is only one or two nights, base Kata or Karon and Grab to Patong for Bangla — Patong is loud until 2am and light sleepers hate it. Full Patong only if you want Bangla every night. Grab Patong–Kata runs 200–350 baht each way off-peak. Kata has enough restaurants and a better beach without constant touts. Split 2 nights Patong + 2 Kata if you want both without repacking mid-trip chaos.

Split it. 2 nights Patong for Bangla and convenience, then Kata or Karon for the rest. Kata has enough restaurants without the constant touts.

We did Kata whole trip + one Patong night out. Worked — didn't need to repack.

Patong beach itself is meh — you're there for bars not sand.
